Electronic Arts is working at full speed in developing new Need for Speed video games, apparently, as the company has officially integrated the development team at Codemasters Cheshire into Criterion Games. The two teams will be at both locations under the Criterion Games studio brand and work together on the future of Need for Speed. Codemasters Cheshire’s merger with Criterion Games follows Electronic Arts’ acquisition of Codemasters early last year.
An EA spokesperson said Tell GamesIndustry.biz About merging teams. “By sharing common values and similar cultures, we strongly believe that uniting the vast wealth of experience across both teams will help us deliver the best possible racing experiences for our players.”

The new Need for Speed video game has been officially announced as being in development in 2020 at Criterion Games along with wrapping up updates for Need for Speed Heat. Expectations are that the title, which has yet to be fully revealed, could be released sometime later this year. Moreover, there is not much official information available about the new Need for Speed video game.
Matt Webster, General Manager of Criterion Games, stated when a new need for Speed was announced. “Since the launch of Need for Speed Heat and as players continue to tear it apart in Palm City, we’ve been listening to what you love about this experience, and what you all think could be better. With these insights, we have a great foundation for creating the most expressive, most connected game possible. Socially, and action-packed yet for fans of Need for Speed and others.”
The new Need for Speed, regardless of what it might eventually be called, is expected to be released for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S at least.
